Last year we brought the Doodle4Google Philippines to Iligan and we have produced 3 national finalists. One of them won in his age category. This year, GEG Iligan conducted an orientation program for the Google Science Fair 2015 at the MSU-IIT i-School Laboratory on April 17, 2015.
We have invited teachers and school heads in Iligan City to attend the orientation program. Google Science Fair is defined as “a global online science and technology competition open to individuals and teams from ages 13 to 18.”
This year’s slogan is “What Will You Try?” We started the event with an overview of the fair and showed videos of the past year’s winners. After watching the inspiring videos, the participants were asked to complete the fill-in-the-blanks statements from the fair’s starter kit.
I love _________.
I’m good at _________.
I will try _________.
The participants gave interesting and funny answers. Then, my GEG co-leader Jun Caparoso discussed the rules of the fair while GEG core group member Charity Mulig discussed the prizes that can be won in the fair.
We ended the event by giving out of Google Science Fair schwags and taking afternoon snacks.
